Intended is an initial processing of grain mass and oilseed crops to European quality consumer standards. Priority species are: chickpeas, lentils, flax, mustard and beans. These crops are profitable, have an export demand, increase soil fertility, which will undoubtedly increase the interest of farms in their cultivation.

 

In the last few years, niche agricultural crops have been gradually regaining hectares from traditional ones. In general, they are not only good precursors for cereals, but also provide high yield, which is supported by high demand from foreign countries.

 

Experts note the growth of container shipments of niche crops from Russia, which are characterized by low prices. We are talking about shipments of flax, chickpea, peas, mustard, lentils and beans.

 

Chickpea as Grocery 

Chickpea, or mutton pea, or bubbles - grocery and fodder grain legumes.

Chickpeas seeds contain 19.8% protein (up to 30%), 3.4-4.5% fat (up to 7%), 41.2% carbohydrates and 2.7% minerals. Seeds in boiled and canned form are used for food. In terms of taste they correspond to peas, but are worse boiled. They are also used as a raw material for coffee surrogate production. For food purposes, they mainly cultivate varieties with white seeds. Varieties with dark seeds are used for feed purposes.

 

White mustard, yellow mustard 

White mustard, yellow mustard is one of the oldest, well known plants. Among its 40 varieties, the most common are Sareptian and white mustard.

Mustard is one of the best known and most common spices in the world. In Russia, Sareptian mustard is cultivated as an oilseed crop; in terms of oilseed production it stands after sunflower, soybean and rape.

The main purpose of mustard production is to produce edible oil, mustard powder and green food for animals. Sareptian mustard seeds contain 40-48% high quality oil suitable for food and technical purposes, up to 1.5% essential oils widely used in the chemical industry and medicine. Mustard oil is rich in vitamins A, B6, PP, D and E. It is therefore widely used in food, perfume, printing, metallurgical and other industries as well as in medicine.

 

Oily flaxseed 

Oily flaxseed is a valuable agricultural crop, which is commonly used in industry. Used for producing technical oil and cheap vegetable protein for animal husbandry. The content of oil and protein in the seeds of modern flax breeding varieties reaches 50% and 33% respectively. The high content of polyunsaturated fatty acids ensures the formation of a strong and persistent film when dried. Paints and varnishes obtained on linseed olive are very reliable and durable. The oil is successfully used in food, printing, leather-shoes, medical, textile, perfume and other industries. It is a raw material for production of various coatings, artificial fibers, insulation foams, plasticizers, high-pressure greases and other polymers.

 

Green and red lentils  

Green and red lentils - nutrition, fodder and technical grain legumes.

Lentil grains are used in food industry for production of protein preparations, sausages, canned food, confectionery products (some varieties of chocolate, candies, cookies). Seeds have high flavour qualities. Consumed in fresh and canned form. Protein content - 24-30%, in terms of digestibility they are superior to peas, chickpeas and beans, fats - 1.4%, carbohydrates - 52%, mineral substances - 3.2%.

For nutritional needs, large-family forms of lentils are mainly used, while small-seed forms of lentils are used for feed purposes.

For fodder purposes, straw and lentil floor are used. The content of protein in straw is up to 14-15%, in terms of nutrient corresponds to good meadow hay, in the sex - up to 18-20%, which exceeds the grain of oats and bran of rye. 1 kg of lentil floor contains 0.56 fodder units. Grinding seeds are also used for feed, which is a good concentrated feed for all farm animals.

 

Beans - grain legume agricultural crop

Beans - grain legume agricultural crop. Seeds and green beans are used for nutritional purposes in fresh, boiled and canned form. Seeds contain 21-30% protein with good taste qualities (comparable to peas), 1.6% fat, 40% carbohydrates and 4.0% mineral substances. Green beans contain up to 15.7% protein in terms of solids, up to 2% of the raw mass of sugar, up to 22 mg/100 g of vitamin C.

Multicolour beans are also used for decorative purposes. Some bean forms are suitable as green fertilizer.

The green mass of Asian types of beans, such as Masha and Adzuki, is suitable for feeding purposes. The green mass of beans is not eaten by common animals.

Bean leaves are used to produce citric acid.
